Aimee Georgeson

BSc Hons Psych, BA Hons SW, PGDip CFMH

Aimee is an experienced emotional well-being practitioner having worked with children, young people and families for over 20 years. She holds an Honours degree in Psychology, a post graduate Diploma in Child & Family Mental Health as well as a BA in social work. She is also trained in cognitive behaviour therapy and as a Reiki healer/teacher.

In her work with children and families Aimee listens carefully to ensure a good understanding of the difficulties and shares her thoughts in a non-judgemental way. Aimee sees children 0-18 years old, either 1:1 or with parents and is clear that working together to create a plan and implement strategies and/or recommendations is often helpful in improving difficulties. Aimee understands the significance of early relationships and the impact of trauma on the emotional well-being of children. Although Aimee primarily works with children and teenagers she also works with parents, with or without children present, to improve the quality of relationships and positive parenting in order to create harmony at home.

Aimee has a warm, direct communication style and is experienced in helping children learn how to reduce distress and anxiety, improve mood, begin to feel more settled; ultimately with the aim of developing a strong sense of resilience (inner strength). Aimee works with issues such as anxiety, low mood, difficult feelings, challenging behaviour, loss, coping with stress, poor sleep and friendship difficulties. She feels strongly, about giving children & young people the knowledge and skills they need to maintain resilience and feel good about themselves.
