Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue, but it is not just a ‘hard’ massage. The therapist works with the tissue, not just on it, and aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through using slow strokes, deep finger pressure, knuckles, fists and elbows.

Releasing muscle holding patterns by stretching and lengthening tissue can correct poor postural patterns, increase flexibility and help heal old injuries. As deep tissue massage usually focuses on more specific areas it may cause some soreness during or immediately after the massage, however if the massage is done correctly you should feel better within a day or two.

Why get a Deep Tissue Massage?

When muscles are stressed they block oxygen and nutrients, leading to inflammation that builds up toxins in the muscles tissue. A deep tissue massage helps loosen muscle tissue therefore releasing toxins from the muscle and gets blood and oxygen circulating properly. Because toxins are released it is important to drink plenty of water after a deep tissue massage to help eliminate the them from the body.

Conditions that could be eased include:
