Reflexology

– Traditional, Maternity, Fertility, Hot Stone & Facial

A little History of Reflexology

The art of reflexology dates back to Ancient Egypt, India and China but it wasn’t until 1913 that it was introduced by Dr William Fitzgerald to the West. It was further developed in the 1930’s by Eunice Ingham to become what it is today. Eunice noticed that congestion or tension in any part of the body is mirrored in the feet zone, developing from Dr Fitzgerald’s understanding that reflex areas in the feed and hands were linked to other areas and organs of the body.

What is Reflexology?

Traditional ReflexologyReflexology is a complementary therapy which works on the feet to aid healing to the whole person, not just the prevailing symptoms. Pressure points on the feet correspond to areas within the body and by massaging these points, congestion can be eased, restoring and maintaining the body’s natural equilibrium.

Throughout life, we experience both physical and emotional traumas, some we are not even aware of. These can become stored in our cellular memory and can, in extreme circumstances, become part of dis-ease and ill health.

Reflexology is one of the many treatments that when given over time can help to release these old patterns, allowing us to let go and to bring ourselves back into balance. The energy flows through our bodies and gently restores us to our natural rhythm. We are meant to be healthy and happy and so often can not remember when this was the case!

You may come along with a specific ailment or you may be just feeling under the weather or stressed with all that life throws at you.

If you do not believe in the ‘airy fairy ways of complementary therapy’ you can just relax and spend an hour having a fabulously relaxing foot massage. Your body does not mind whether or not your mind understands you!

Regular sessions will help to keep you well and will support you through the challenges of life!

Some doctors, consultants and other health care professionals recognise reflexology as well established, respected and effective therapy.

Taking care of your own health needs is becoming more important. Having an hour which is totally for you, where you can talk, relax and reflect with an experienced therapist who you can trust, feel safe with and be supported by is rare and special and may be just the tonic you need.

Reflexologists do not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe. It should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice.

Once that is sought, the reflexologist can work alongside the GP to help you to maintain health and wellbeing. You will be given the time for you to re balance and to feel good whether you have a physical or emotional issue or just want some peace and relaxation.

Most problems can be eased whether it be associated with

sleep problems
migraines
fertility throughout pregnancy
hormone inbalances
low mood.

Note we are not implying a cure, but an easing.

Reflexology is suitable for all ages.
