Western Herbal Medicine goes as far back as Hippocrates in 450 BCE. Hippocrates says “Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food”. In the practice of Herbal Medicine, we use the therapeutic properties of plants to aid the body with its healing processes. Herbs are made up of complex constituents, which work together within a formula. Every herb has an action, which affects different organs/conditions within the body and each practitioner is trained to prescribe an appropriate herbal formula. Herbs come in the form of tinctures, powders and teas.
